Windows 7

I have been using windows seven since the first public beta builds hit the internet. Its far more stable and speedy than vista and I've fallen in love with the new Task Bar. There have been a ton of improvements under the hood as well. The new libraries system makes sharing between 2 computers running win7 easy as can be. The backup and restore system works like a charm. All in all I believe Windows 7 takes the crown for the top OS at the moment. Yes, even beating out OSX. and any variation of linux. (Sorry mac/tux fanboys)

So, I guess my question is. How many of you have given it a shot? or will be upgrading in October? I've already pre-purchased my copy during the presale and got my 50 percent discount. :p

I'm historically a late adopter, so I'll be sticking with this extremely stable version of XP SP3 for the foreseeable future.

I have not tried it yet and Shadow I know you know I was upset to hear that Win7 was not going to be a near free upgrade for all Vista users but regardless I will be ponying up the cash probably within the first month it's released I have read nothing but great stuff on this OS!

Guess I have been doing the same as you. I will have the actual DVD in Oct but am using the final release now.
I do like one of the early beta's though and I may keep using that as well as the finished version they will be pumping out to everyone.
.....and lol grins at your comment about Mac.....Win seven is better on a mac! :p

So is it a huge improvement system resource wise (ram & cpu) compared to Vista as being advertised by MS? That was always my only complaint with Vista is it was a resource whore BIG TIME!

it was not just a resource hog but the idea of the side bar sucked.....you still can have any widgets with win seven, but they got rid of the side bar. That along with many issues that Vista is plagued with have been fixed.

I would be interested in getting that link please, I still like playing with tux and have it on my laptop (ubuntu) and sons pc (mempis). Have a new pc to replace mine but it's running vista home premium it's been sitting at side of my desk for over a month now and I will need to do something about it. so much stuff to transfer over from old pc. Its a packard bell with Intel® Celeron® Dual Core E1200 Processor, 800MHz, 1024MB DDR2, 160GB so will this be suitable for windows 7?

well...windows seven is sooooooo much better than vista, you need a very fast comp, and a huge amount of Ram to run it and In my humble opinion....it is a pile of shit!

I can share several versions of Win. 7 but I have to wait until I am back home from vacation and have access to my server.

If i can drag Brandon's butt in here..... hehehe he will slap me for that comment, he could point you in the right direction to get the final release. To let you know ...the final one they made the (..*cough.. activate hack is useless) so you would have to buy a licence.....earlier beta versions however I think that you can use despite them saying that they will stop them from working.

In the future I will give more info on this.

Hello everyone!
Windows 7 is awesome and I have used it, I use the RTM from MSDN or Technet since we have an account. So far so good. Only problem I thought I was going to have was my printer. I installed using the Vista x64 driver and it worked fine.
