I will go on with a new project on www.ubroadcast.com I will let you know when it start.

Well I tried to install that broadcast manager and it just gives me errors that it's not the correct version. I did download the player to listen and it sounds pretty good but I noticed it is kinda buggy itself. It looks like it has potential though.

Sauce I guess you are talking about ubroadcast. I have no problem connecting with it. I uploaded some music, what you don't have to because you can use there library too, and that it big.
I agree with the player, going from one song to the next gives it some problem bnut the sound is nice, and you can make live programs.

Yeah I keep getting a error saying some .dll file is not the correct version. I've did everything they say and still haven't been able to get the broadcaster to launch. I'm wondering if it is a Vista 64 problem or something.

Yep, it's the end. I got a email in response to my facebook message from Sampath. I won't post it here just in case, but yes this is the end. He said that it would have been irresponsible for him to keep investing money into it.

Exactly....they started that private group where they were supposed to listen to us die hard fans of the program but chose instead to ignore us and go a different route!? Seriously though it's too bad I will miss it I mean I will miss Mercora when it was a great application in it's heyday! RIP

The thing is, and i dont know why they went with a centralized server to serve music to everyone, that made it expensive for them, if it would have been pure P2P more in line with bittorrent, the bandwidth costs would have been much much less.

I hate to say it but I think that would have failed also. Several ISP's in the U.S. are disrupting bit torrent traffic. Also the latest new craze seems to be taking away unlimited Internet. Comcast said they are eventually going to have caps., Time Warner is testing caps and AT&T has said they will eventually have caps for metered access. The days of having a unlimited connection are going to be a thing of the past.

The bad part about mercora in it's early stages depended on the broadcasters upload and back then not many people had high uploads to support lots of listeners. I always liked the IM style Mercora the best . They had a community at one point and a very active one at that , but all I kept hearing is it was all about the music and community features dropped 1 by 1 until all it was is just about the music. There were lots of us in chat all the time and helping new people who joined Mercora.

Indeed Sad however should of stayed Mercora not social FM. when first released everyone went nuts as it was so community based however once that was messed with people only used it for music which is what the programmers wanted really even after good advice from all of us, to be honest im suprised it didnt happen sooner.

Oh sorry big shout out to all *waves*

hope you are all ok peeps.

They had to change names so they could try to attract new people to try it. It would have been dead sooner if they had not changed names. They failed to realize community is what made Mercora strong back in the day. They failed to realize that most people will try it and only stay so long. Once you lose a person the chances of them coming back are very slim. I'm sure everyone has tried programs and found out they weren't so good and never went back. I know I have done it.

I can understand that they pulled the plug if it was not worth the investment anymore. But what I do NOT understand is they way they did it. There where till the end still a group of people online every day, loyal users, and the pulled the plug without any warning. They did not tell anyone anything. They atleast could have given us a sign. and what about the Mobile users who payed for the programe.... they lost there money...
Well what can I say, here in Holland there no sign of limiting the bandwith or put caps on anything..yet.
Hi Bucky long time no see, thank JB for being a faithfull listener to my webcast :-)

I still think that they could have done a p2p style of listening instead of proxying everything through there servers. As nice as it was, I knew it wouldn't last once I found out they were beginning to proxy listeners around a year ago. I'm still broadcasting at
http://www.serrebiradio.com
sort of like serrebi101 style, but a little more defined. It's auto dj unless I, or someone else a friend or whatever is using it. Mind the design, it's kinda a pop up player that is my main site. I'm lazy. I've gotta play around with it.

Good to see you also Buckster *cheers*

I used a P2P type broadcaster like several years back. It was called Peercast I believe. Like I said though lots of ISP's are starting to block P2P type of applications here. I left Comcast because they use protocol to mess up P2P. I'm on At&T dsl right now and they haven't blocked it yet so I'm okay. To be honest I'm not surprised they didn't let anyone know they were going offline forever. I can remember lots of times users weren't informed about major changes.

Ads don't make money unless people click. I'm doubting the Mobile version made much money and if many subscribed. Mercora had no real way to make money , I remember when they charged people and that even failed. I'm guessing they just finally ran out of money and no one wanted to spend more money on a product that has been on life support for several years now.
